Vegas…..

Hi Everyone,

Sorry again for skipping a week but this time I have a good reason, VEGAS……….
So there were no races worthy of mention before we left for Vegas. Travelling to the USA will be by far the furthest I have been away from home, it was worth it though. Unfortunately, Yvonne couldn’t make the trip, she fell ill in the days leading up to it and even on the day tried her hardest to go, she made it as far as the airport but was just too poorly and fatigued to make the trip, and I’m not going to lie it was a very long trip, with all the connections we had to make we were travelling for around twenty-four hours and all in all I think I was awake for forty-four hours when we arrived and got checked in it was time for food and bed lol.

Thursday was the start of the crazy schedule, I got to meet the lovely Victoria Thomas, co-founder at Kelly Moss Racing as she was my ride to the track, Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Once sorted with passes for the weekend it was into the venue that would be hosting the event of Screen2Speed, a building on the infield of the speedway as we were working we could hear the NASCAR driving round practising for the weekend, not going to lie the sound of unfiltered V8’s makes your legs wobble, or that could have been from the vibrations of multiple cars whizzing round, I don’t know, either way, it was an experience.

Friday was crunch day and a long one, it was the day the drivers for the competition were arriving and the day the rigs needed to be set up and software installed. It was a super busy day for me as I got pulled from pillar to post trying to help with set up but also fill in for Yvonne and ensure all the drivers were set and answer any questions they had because I was so busy I missed the qualifying sessions for Saturday and Sundays race events and didn’t get back to the hotel until 3 am.

Saturday, the day of the event, and again it was super busy, but I got an hour to myself before the event and managed to go look at the gift shop and get Yvonne a few souvenirs as she couldn’t make it. Being the first of its kind in America the event went pretty well, with a few minor hiccups but nothing that couldn’t be sorted quickly. Once back at the hotel I passed out and wasn’t alive until the next morning.

Sunday was fly-home day and I missed out on the VIP stay at the track hosted by Penzoil, maybe next time I can stay a little longer. I went souvenir shopping again and almost missed my first flight back to Europe (oops), made it with thirty minutes to spare so not as close as I initially thought. All in all, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I would love to do it again if they will have me.

The last order of business for this week we had the Team BRIT Team photo shoot, unfortunately, you won’t find me in any of the shots as I wasn’t able to find the funding to secure my seat in time but I’m still working hard to make that happen and who knows I may still race this year. Below are a few shots that I took of Yvonne and the rest of the team you can see my C1 Teammates in there also and I hope they have so much fun racing this year.

bye, for now, see you all next week :)
